Amman, South Carolina

I have a confession to make. This post has been in my drafts folder since my second week in Amman. I have made a few edits to it since then, and apologize for the absurd lack of posts on this blog since I've been away. I promise I have learned a lot and experienced a ton. This summer has been one of major growth for me, which I may expand upon in a later post.

---

I thought I would start off my posts about Amman, Jordan with something a bit lighthearted and fun. This post is not a serious one, and includes generalizations of both where I am living now and where I have grown up.

Here goes. A post about how similar Amman, Jordan is to upstate South Carolina.

TEDxFurmanU, a week later

I told myself that at the end of the series of speakers at this past weekend's TEDxFurmanU, I would sit down and write a blog post about what all happened and how impressed I was with the work that everyone put into creating it.

If you want to get a taste of what everyone had to say about the event as it was happening, please refer to this nifty widget. (I'm afraid these things are going to become a little bit of a cliche around here, but I promise I'll think of new shiny things soon! Also, if this is viewed a good amount of time after time of posting, there may be new tweets not from the 2014 event.)

Davidson SGA Elections 2014: Then there were two...

Before you go any further, read candidate answers to the additional questions posed after the debate, one of which was my own worry about the Religious Bylaw. The Davidsonian followed up with all 5 candidates previously, here.

By now, you have probably received an email with the Category II elections results. Congratulations are in order for the following new members of SGA/Student body representative positions:

Union Board President: Veronica Hudson
Union Board Vice President: Kieran Lenahan
Student Government Association Vice President: VJ Brown
Activities Tax Council Vice Chair: Stacy McElroy
Civic Engagement Council Chair: Ana Pinheiro
Committee on Campus and Religious Life Members: Ela Hefler; Max Feinstein; Sam Riehl; Sana Alimohamed
Student Defense Advisors: Karl Wold and Rebecca Surratt
Student Solicitors: Susanna Vogel and Robert Hagerty

Davidson SGA Elections 2014: After the debate

Before you read this commentary, please read Lincoln Davidson's coverage of the debate at DavidsonNews.

If you want to look at my (previously) live-tweets on the subject of the SGA Debate, here's a widget of my tweets tagged with #SGADebate. (SGA Debate)

I want to keep this as general as possible, in order to keep any unnecessary bias infiltrate my writing. First, I'm going to give an overview of the performance of each candidate. Then I'm going to talk about how this debate changed the field (if at all). Finally, I'll conclude with some more general comments on the debate as a whole - what I was pleased to hear and what I am saddened was left out from the discussion.

Davidson SGA Elections 2014: Before the Debate, Where we stand

Before I get to anything else, here's a Davidsonian article by Michelle Wan on the changes to SGA bylaws.

Here are a few updates to my previous post.

Davidson SGA Elections 2014: Where we stand, pre-politics

I tweeted earlier asking if there was a student offering insight into the SGA election as an elections observer. I received no responses, so I figured I would spend a few days covering the election politics just for kicks.

I will not reveal my "politics" on these races, but I can't promise I will tone down any snark here. If you want to know who I am considering casting my vote for, please come talk to me in person.

An Honest Review of this Blog (and poor writing, I guess)

Hello, reader. This blog has, like many blogs, become dominated by posts about itself rather than posts about the world or about my own experience here in Davidson. Warning: this one is exactly the problem.
